Pohl & Short P.A. is proud to employ three attorneys who have each earned Martindale-Hubbell's prestigious "AV" rating: Frank L. Pohl, John R. Simpson, Jr. and Alexander S. Douglas II.
There are two components to the Martindale-Hubbell ratings system:
1. Legal Ability Ratings - these ratings consider the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer's expertise, and other professional qualifications. The legal ability ratings are as follows:
A - very high to preeminent
B- high to very high
C - good to high2. General Ethical Standards Rating - this rating denotes adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence, and other criteria relevant to performance of professional responsibilities. The general recommendation rating is:
V - very high.
An AV rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced the law for many years (a minimum of five years is required), and is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity.
*CV, BV and AV are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Ratings fall into two categories - legal ability and general ethical standards.
